ALUMINUM PROCESSING STATES
At VINCO we are specialists in the supply of aluminum strapping with a wide variety of finish options, tolerances and treatment states -which determine the mechanical characteristics of this type of strapping-. Knowing each of the states, we will determine the minimum and maximum values of tensile strength, yield strength and minimum elongation in percentage according to the thickness.
The basic stages of aluminum processing are summarized in five:
F: Gross manufacturing. In this case it is applied to products that do not require a control of the thermal conditions or cold deformation that have been used at the time of manufacture. There are no established values for mechanical characteristics.
O: Annealed. Applied to aluminum semi-finished products to obtain the lowest state of resistance.
H: Acritude. Generally used in laminates/stretchings.Applied to semi-products whose strength has been increased by cold deformation, with or without intermediate heat treatment to achieve some reduction in mechanical characteristics.
W: Solution heat treatment and quenching. It is a state that applies to aluminum products whose alloys mature spontaneously at room temperature after solution heat treatment and quenching. This state will only be used when the time of natural maturation is indicated. For example W1/2 hour.
T: Structural hardening heat treatment. Application in semi-products in which their mechanical resistance is increased by heat treatment with or without supplementary acritude, in order to obtain stable states.
Acriton-hardened aluminum strips have a number of specifications depending on the number in the second and third positions of the nomenclature (HXX). Each of these is listed below and full details can be found in the status section:
ACCRITUDE Process-specific variation H1: acritude
H2: accritude and partial annealing
H3: accritude and stabilized
Mechanical characteristics HX2: ¼ hard state
HX4: semi-hard state
HX6: ¾ hard state
HX8: hard state
HX9: extrahard state
Applicable to all forgeable alloys H (x)11: after annealing, hardening by cold deformation which prevents it from being classified as a reduced condition (0)
H 112: strain hardening at elevated temperature
H 113: Applied to plates which, after annealing, hardening by cold deformation prevents them from being classified as reduced condition (0)
For aluminum strips subjected to structural hardening heat treatment, there are also a number of subdivisions according to the digits that are placed after the letter T in the nomenclature (TXXX). All of them are detailed in the product data sheet status section.

ALUMINUM STRIP FINISHES
As for the finishes available for the supply of aluminum strip, VINCO offers a wide range of possibilities, including anodizable and anodized aluminum. This anodizing process consists of creating a layer of surface oxide by means of an electrolytic process that protects the material against friction wear, corrosion, electrical insulation and, therefore, increases its useful life. Contact us for more information.
MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND OTHER SPECIFICATIONS
In the product data sheet you can consult all the information available for aluminum strip with regard to chemical composition, equivalences according to the European Standard (EN), mechanical characteristics depending on the quality of the material and tolerances for each of the alloys: thickness, width, deflection and flatness tolerances.
